Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program Overview

The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program allows applicants to obtain citizenship by either making a substantial economic contribution to the country or investing in a government-approved qualifying asset. In return, and following a rigorous due diligence process, including comprehensive background checks, successful applicants and their families are granted citizenship.

Key Benefits of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program

What distinguishes Grenada: Among the five Caribbean Citizenship by Investment programmes, Grenada is differentiated by its US E-2 Investor Visa treaty relationship and visa-free access to China, alongside its two qualifying investment routes.

Global Mobility: Enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 140 destinations, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK, and the Schengen Area.

Exclusive U.S. E-2 Visa Treaty: Grenada is a treaty country for the United States E-2 Investor Visa. Eligible Grenadian citizens may apply for an E-2 visa to invest in and operate a qualifying US business, subject to the separate requirements of US immigration law. Individuals who acquired Grenadian nationality through investment must also satisfy the applicable three-year continuous domicile requirement before relying on that nationality for E-2 treaty eligibility.

Citizenship for Future Generations: Grenadian citizenship can be passed down to new spouses and descendants.

Inclusive Family Eligibility: Eligible family members may include a spouse, dependent children under 30, qualifying dependent parents and grandparents, and qualifying siblings aged 18 or over who are unmarried and have no children, subject to the programme’s dependency and eligibility requirements.

Dual Citizenship Allowed: Grenada imposes no restrictions on holding multiple nationalities.

No Residency Requirement: Grenada currently has no active minimum-stay requirement under its Citizenship by Investment Programme. A new residence requirement has been adopted under the regional CBI framework, but its implementation has been deferred pending the operationalisation of the regional regulator and confirmation of an effective commencement date. Applicants should therefore confirm the current requirements before applying.

Grenada Citizenship by Investment Requirements

To qualify for Grenada Citizenship by Investment, the main applicant must be at least 18 years old, meet the programme's eligibility and due diligence requirements, demonstrate a lawful source of funds, and complete one of the qualifying investment options.

National Transformation Fund (NTF)

The National Transformation Fund is the programme's non-refundable contribution option. The minimum contribution is USD 235,000 for a single applicant or a qualifying family of up to four people. Additional contributions and government fees may apply depending on the number and category of dependants included in the application.

Approved Real Estate Investment

Applicants may qualify for Grenada citizenship through a real estate investment of at least USD 270,000 in a government-approved project, along with a minimum government contribution of USD 50,000. Application, processing, due diligence and mandatory interview fees also apply and vary according to the applicant and family composition.

Additional Government Fees

In addition to the qualifying investment, applicants must pay government application and processing fees, due diligence fees and interview fees.

Application fee: USD 1,500 per applicant
Due diligence fee: USD 5,000 per applicant aged 17 or over
Processing fee: USD 1,500 per applicant aged 17 or over; USD 500 per applicant under 17
Interview fee: USD 1,000 per applicant aged 17 or over

The total cost of a Grenada citizenship application therefore depends on the investment route selected and the number and ages of family members included. Government fees are subject to change.

Real Estate Holding and Resale

The rules governing the resale of an approved investment depend on whether the property is intended to remain eligible as a qualifying Citizenship by Investment asset for a subsequent purchaser. Investors should confirm the applicable holding and resale conditions for the specific approved project before committing to an investment.

Applicants can choose between a contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF) and an approved real estate investment. See our Grenada NTF donation vs real estate investment comparison for a detailed breakdown of the two options.

Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program Application Process

1. Choose Your Investment Option
Select one of the qualifying investment routes: a contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF) or an investment in a government-approved project.

2. Work with Authorised Agents and Prepare Your Application
Applications cannot be submitted directly to the Investment Migration Agency Grenada. Applicants work through an Authorised International Marketing Agent, who liaises with an Authorised Local Agent in Grenada. The required application forms and supporting documents are prepared, including identification, civil records, financial and source-of-funds documentation, police clearances and medical information where required.

3. Submit the Application
Once the documentation is complete, the Authorised Local Agent submits the application to the Investment Migration Agency Grenada and manages correspondence relating to the application.

4. Complete Due Diligence and the Mandatory Interview
Grenada applies due diligence and background checks to Citizenship by Investment applicants. Mandatory interviews form part of the application process, with interview requirements and fees applying to relevant applicants and dependants aged 17 and over. Applicants must also provide the required supporting documentation, including medical and police records where applicable.

5. Receive the Government Decision
Following review of the application and due diligence results, the relevant Grenadian authorities issue a decision. Successful applicants receive confirmation through their Authorised Local Agent. Processing times vary depending on the application, due diligence requirements and whether additional documentation or information is requested.

6. Complete the Qualifying Investment
Following approval, the applicant completes the selected qualifying investment, either through the National Transformation Fund or an approved project, together with any outstanding programme requirements and fees.

7. Receive Citizenship Documentation and Apply for a Passport
Once all programme requirements have been satisfied, Grenadian citizenship is registered and the relevant citizenship documentation is issued. The new citizen may then apply for a Grenadian passport through the authorised process.
